The Rising Unemployment Numbers

The number of unemployed persons increased by 851,000 in February 2009. That brings the number of unemployed people in the United to states to 12.5 million. Over the past 12 months, the number of unemployed persons has increased by about 5.0 million.

When you read these numbers it is easy to let the numbers roll off your tongue without much thought. When you really sit and think about the numbers, and the people who ARE those numbers, then it becomes a reality.

Losing their job and struggling to pay the bills has become a reality for millions of Americans. They tell us the economy is improving, yet more companies are laying off workers every day.

I am writing this article in hopes that you can help me in giving a voice to millions of Americans. I have started an online clothing company called I LOST MY JOB CLOTHING. There are two main goals of the company. To give back to the people who need it most and to give Americans a voice by wearing the shirts and allowing them to share their stories.

We hope our site will help get the message out and put a face behind the rising unemployment numbers. $1 per shirt sold will be donated to a deserving family who needs help. For every 1,000 shirts sold we will donate $1,000. You do not have to purchase a shirt to receive a donation. We will also have a national wear your I Lost My Job Clothing T-shirt Day on August 7, 2009.

There is a “stories” section on the website where 10 stories of people who have lost their jobs will be posted every week. Giving people the opportunity to share their stories as well as read others is a way to let people know they are not alone.

Please take a moment to look at the website:

Lea, the effects of the Jimmy Carter economy isn't effecting most of them directly yet. They are too busy fascinating about Palin, Sanford, Micheal Jackson to pay attention.

It won't be another year or so, when they get the bills, can't afford to fill their gas tanks, can't afford a home mortgage with 18% APR's, see food prices skyrocket, because agriculture and transportation costs rise with higher priced fuel. Foreign dictators start taking Americans hostage, invading other countries, and snubbing their nose at us.

Bernanke has already started covering his butt. He told Congress the Fed won't monetize the debt. So now Obama has to figure out where to borrow from. And higher interest on Treasuries is the only option, meaning inflation, higher interest is in your future. The market has lost everything it recovered, commodities have tanked again, and Bernanke himself has seen the hand writing on the wall. He is setting himself up to not be the fall guy. We were told unemployment would peak at 8% with the stimulus. Those are not encouragement of a recovering economy.

Nobody questioned the Jimmy Carter economy or foreign policy, for years, until it hit home and effected them personally.

well you gotta realize that if he creates 3.5 million jobs, but overall private business lay off 5 million, it wont look like it did anything.

But that is the catch, you need to give incentives for people to hire, and talk of a universal healthcare and forcing health care for all employees isn't the incentive we are looking for.

you’re an ignoramus. I didn’t demoralize anything with that statement.

and if you care so much about your country then why haven’t you done anything yet?

oh wait, i guess your waiting for jesus to do it.

The only people that demorilize is people like you that take the time to write things like that.
    There’s always hope.
and if we have to die, many of us would rather die fighting for our freedom.

In desperation, this is how liberals do things, back @sswards ! They have developed the technique of making lemonade out of lemons.

They look at unemployment numbers that don't hit projections as a success. It's designed to make us all feel warm and fuzzy inside, don't you just love it.

We have learned too, that numbers that don't meet projections one month, often come back to bite you in the @ss the next month. We'll see ! But, on a positive note, it would be good for all of us if they keep missing the projections, Let's all hope !
